Dr. Robert Spady
Dr. Robert Spady is the founder and director of Community Health Care of the Palouse. A graduate of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, he earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry and is board certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Spady was born in Seattle, Wash. He attended Auburn Adventist Academy and graduated from Walla Walla College with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He has held leadership positions with the Idaho Medical Association and Gritman Medical Center, and has been part of the Moscow/Pullman community for 16 years. |

Though his primary passions of personal wellness and church leadership dominate most days, Dr. Spady finds balance in quality family time with his wife, Linda, and their two children. Hobbies include mountaineering and photography, and clinic visitors enjoy his African safari pictures that adorn the walls of Community Health Care offices.
Nurturing the success and growth of Community Health Care continues to be Dr. Spady’s consuming focus. “This is definitely the most satisfying and challenging project I’ve ever been involved with,” he says. “Looking back at my life, I realize God set me on this path. It’s what I feel driven and compelled to do.” |

Dr. John Torquato |
Dr. John Torquato
Dr. John Torquato, also a graduate of Loma Linda University, is board certified in family practice. Dr. Torquato chose a health care career in order to become a medical missionary, and for years searched for a model that was similar to God’s blueprint as outlined in the Spirit of Prophecy for the integration of health care and evangelism.
Discovering Community Health Care came as a tremendous relief and revelation to Dr. Torquato. “I had no idea anyone else was out there with the same goals I had,” he recalls. “I recognize that all my life experiences and training have prepared me to do this one thing. I feel like I was born for this.” |
|
Dr. Torquato grew up in Central California, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pacific Union College. He enjoys woodworking, hiking, waterskiing and spending time with his wife, Cherie, and their four children. “I’m just your average guy,” he says. “I like doing simple family things—working in the garden or wrestling the kids. That’s quality.”
Even after more than five years at Community Health Care, he’s still amazed to have found his niche, along with such high levels of personal satisfaction. “I get the best of both medical ministry and family,” Dr. Torquato says. “I work in a ministry where I can help my patients develop a relationship with God, and the clinic model allows time for a wonderful family lifestyle. I find great joy in that.”
